Residential Solutions for Muslim Seniors in Toronto

Our Mission

We are a group of dedicated volunteers working to establish a self-supported residential community for Muslim seniors in the Greater Toronto Area. Our primary focus is on older adults—often empty-nesters—whose children have grown and moved on, leaving them to manage daily responsibilities on their own. Many in this stage of life face increased loneliness, social isolation, and related emotional or cognitive challenges

This initiative is not seeking donations or external funding from governmental or non-governmental organizations. Instead, the envisioned community will operate on a self-governing and self-managing model, designed to serve seniors who share similar cultural and social values. Our goal is to create a peaceful, harmonious, and supportive environment where residents can enjoy their retirement years with dignity, companionship, and a strong sense of belonging.

Option-1

Under this option we plan to acquire a large number of units in an under construction condo project. It will be understood that some units might already have been sold to people belonging to other communities. However, this offers quickest solution to the problems being faced by some Muslim seniors as they prefer a quick solution to their problem of loneliness and other age related issues. This is a compromise solution to living in a full-fledge retirement home while offering a solution the their problems within a relatively shorter time frame.

Option-2

This option offer a better solution than the option-1. The plan is to acquire an entire under construction condo block from the builder and convert into a semi-retirement home. There are clear advantages of this option over the option 1, such as, it offers greater privacy and flexibility to convert common areas into more senior friendly specifications. Also, since the entire building will be inhabited by Muslim seniors hence there should not be any issues arising out of cultural, social and lingual differences. While we fully understand need for diversity, there are moments in life where people want to interact with their own like and find it more relaxing.

Option 3

This option would probably be the best solution to the needs of retirees but is riddled with lots of challenges, some of which might be insurmountable for seniors community. This requires the financial support of either a big financial institution or a group of dedicated seniors who willing to invest in their future homes and willing to wait for few years times to let it materialize while overseeing its implementation. This involves hiring a law firm dealing in corporate affairs, creating a trust fund, expecting group members to contribute to this fund to start to finish all related activities, such as, land acquisition, fulfilling zoning requirements, planning and designing, hiring a project management company, short-listing contractors.
